The search is over.
Yup, Google‘s former CEO Eric Schmidt has found a buyer for the beautiful Atherton, CA, home he owned with wife Wendy Schmidt.
The power couple had only just listed the 3-acre property at the end of April for $24.5 million. And now, a deal has been inked, albeit for a bit less: The five-bedroom, eight-bath home went for $22.5 million.
Here’s a closer look at the 5,265 square-foot estate that sits on three adjacent parcels in the country’s priciest zip code.
Known as the Walsh Estate, this fancy dwelling was built in 1969 and boasts classic European-inspired design, per the listing. California living at its finest is possible here as many of the spacious rooms take full advantage of access to the lush, green terraces outside.
A fireplace warms the formal living room, and the luxe kitchen sports marble counters, double sinks and high-end appliances from such brands as Thermador. There’s a breakfast nook for casual meals and a dining room with a curved window that offers views of the pool.
The main bedroom is a serene retreat, thanks to a private terrace that surrounds it. Nearby, the en suite bath features a deep soaker, two water closets, and a marble shower. Other spaces in the home include a family room with a wet bar, two offices, a laundry room, and a study with a fireplace.
But it’s the exterior details that make this home a true standout, thanks to the many trees, flowers, and other plantings that rival those at the world’s premier botanical gardens. There’s even a greenhouse that was shipped across the pond from England.
Other outdoor amenities include a custom guesthouse with a bedroom and a bath, a sizable fireplace, pool, spa, an amphitheater, a waterfall-type feature, a guardhouse with a bathroom, and a garage for storing tools and equipment.
Schmidt is a multibillionaire who served as Google’s CEO from 2001-2011 and then continued in executive roles for the company and its parent company, Alphabet. Today, Schmidt is the chair of the board of directors of The Broad Institute, a biomedical research organization.
